e.DO Laboratory

Robotics, learning and discovery.

A robotics workshop that promotes skill development and innovation in education designed for children and youth ages 8 and up. A project of the Rondo dei Talenti funded by the CRC Foundation in collaboration with PLIN and COMAU.

The laboratory

The e.DO lab is an innovative learning environment that provides students and teachers with 5 e.DO robotic arms designed and conceived by COMAU to offer educational experiences where student involvement will be direct and always proactive to solve hands-on problems. It can be used to approach the STEM world of robotics, math, coding and programming. It aims to make learning fun and interactive.

The lab can accommodate 30 participants who will be distributed over 5 teaching islands equipped with e.DO, PCs and tablets to program the robot’s movements. During the activity, it is the students themselves who control the robots and solve with them the concrete problems proposed by the Facilitators, applying and reviewing the disciplinary topics covered, developing cooperative skills.

The various proposed activities will be coordinated and managed by a Facilitator trained and certified to use the workshop.

The Robot

e.DO is a small, versatile and easy-to-use robotic arm designed and developed by COMAU.
It is equipped with 6 motorized axes and gripper: it can be programmed to perform more or less complexpick and place operations.

The activities

The lab offers a multitude of different activities. From function design to logistics to programming with Pyhton. Each module is designed with flexibility to adapt to the knowledge and skill levels of the different classes and – in the case of Secondary School – of the different addresses. The choice of package and path will be shared with the Facilitator based on the needs of the teacher, the class group and the level of competence in the subjects covered.

Activity Cards

Each Activity Card consists of a 1-hour training pill to use e.DO to accompany activities on Robotics, Math and Coding topics. There are over 300 of them.
A list of Activity Cards can be found here.

Training Packages

Each Training Package revolves around the concept of group work: each group of students uses and schedules their e.DO to solve challenging exercises immersed in work contexts. The Training Packages last four hours.
A list of Training Packages can be viewed here.

How to participate

Schools can participate in the activities free of charge.
