In the heart of the city of Cuneo, the Rondò dei Talenti was born, which through a major regeneration project desired and promoted by the CRC Foundation has changed its face and functions, transforming the former headquarters of UBI Banca into a space for the community. A hub open to everyone from 0 to 99 years old that develops around the theme of talent to catalyze and boost growth, knowledge, the birth of ideas and the sharing of experiences. A new square for the city, a meeting point for citizens and visitors, a space available for organizations and associations that would like to organize meetings, workshops and training and educational activities.
The Rondo of Talents
The architectural design, characterized by large windows that open wide views of the city and the mountains of the Alps, connects with the activities offered inside the building that aim to open new perspectives and offer insights to interpret the present and design one’s future. An invitation addressed to the city to open up to discovery and come and explore the Rondo dei Talenti and the proposed activities.
To design the new face of the building, ground floor and solar pavement, the CRC Foundation in collaboration with the Order of Architects promoted an ideas competition aimed at architects and designers under 40. The competition, published on Dec. 24, 2018 and closed on Nov. 20, 2019, saw a large participation with the collection of 70 projects from all over Italy. The competition ended with the assignment of the task to the studio of Milanese architect Marco Oriani.
Open to exchange, Pistoletto’s art is the encounter and dialogue of multiple voices, an aesthetic based on relationship and participation through the ability to step outside the boundaries of the work to bring art back into social life and life into art. The monumental work represents the symbol of the Third Paradise and promotes the idea of community participation, youth talent and collective work. It was created with input from local communities and in particular through the combination of 122 drawings made by children and collected by the Education Department of the Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art in synergy with various actors in the City of Cuneo including the Third Paradise Embassy.
It is said that each of us has at least five talents. Within the Rondo, talent is understood as a predisposition that needs to be recognized, nurtured and trained with commitment and dedication. Only in this way can a natural predisposition become a talent and resource for oneself and the community.
Over years of work in the area with schools, families and institutions, the issue of self-knowledge and choices to the future has emerged as critical. Following listening, analysis and research activities on the topic, the CRC Foundation decided to create an educational hub to accompany young people in their discovery and create meetings and paths to spread knowledge and nurture the growth of all generations.
With attention to both the more personal part (inclinations and predispositions) and to skills and competences.
Through more playful paths dedicated to children and more professional and professionalizing for adults.
Not only educational and orienting but also the skills needed to qualify and re-qualify in the job market. It is developed thanks to research, teaching experience and training on different intelligences and the most innovative methods of learning and teaching.
To arrive at deciding on areas of study and professional awareness and fluidity, within a growth path. The training is developed with moments of comparison, interviews, workshops and experiences of “choice” and renewal and requalification of one’s personal, scholastic and professional life.
Sustainability is the key to the urban, economic and social development of the future. The Rondò dei Talenti is the first building in the province of Cuneo constructed with the parameters necessary to apply for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, an internationally recognized standard that certifies the energy efficiency level and green footprint of buildings by examining all aspects of the development and construction process.
Fondazione CRC is a nonprofit organization that has been promoting territorial development for more than 30 years and promoting projects in the province of Cuneo in the fields of education, welfare, art and culture, local development, public health and sports activities. In recent years, the issue of regeneration of empty, abandoned or transitional spaces and their refunctionalization has taken on a relevant dimension both nationally and in individual territories. The analyses conducted have revealed the need for a public policy of reuse, understood as the restitution of cultural and social value. For this reason, the CRC Foundation decided to delve into the dimension of the phenomenon in the province of Cuneo and contextually identify the most significant levers on which to intervene in order to sustainably and profitably direct its contribution in the field of urban redevelopment.
