Why homework is important

Homework is a key to the academic and life success of children and youth. It is a time that links the formal education pathway with informal learning contexts at home, in community spaces, oratories and summer centers. Thus, the roles and skills of teachers are combined with those of parents, educators, youth leaders and parish groups. Tasks are fundamental to an individual’s learning and education. Doing them in the right way helps the individual to reframe the concepts covered in class, developing an autonomy that will help him or her throughout life. This does not always happen, which is why educational disparities increase.

Within the Educational Hub of the Rondo dei Talenti in Cuneo, the CRC Foundation intends to allocate a dedicated space and time to support children and young people in their study time. The Rondo dei Talenti is identified by the children as a place of study. The intention is to solidify the time of study and homework as an inclusive value for all. The place and dedicated time within the Rondo dei Talenti will be able to be an experimental space where we can simultaneously support tutorial teaching skills in those who help with homework and experiment in practice with dedicated service to children and youth. The project is carried out in collaboration with the University of Turin, in particular with the research strand Mediations.

I want to do my homework because...

Very often, homework is seen as a compulsion and is viewed solely as a duty. At the Talent Rondo, we believe, on the other hand, that homework can be a time of exchange, social interaction, growth and enrichment. Our challenge is to make each student and student who participates in the project begin to see homework not as pure and simple duty, but also as an opportunity to grow and learn, to move from saying “I have to do homework” to “I want to do homework.”

I want to do homework is taking a break and will resume around mid-June in the Talent Zone or the Classroom to do homework together. There is no need to make a reservation and admission is free.
You can come alone, with an adult caregiver, or together with as many friends or girlfriends as you like!
During the day there will be a person there to provide study support as needed, and together you will go in search of the best way to learn and do homework.
