All it takes is a little creativity to transform the squares and streets into experiences of play, exploration, and adventure, which are necessary for their proper cognitive, emotional, and social development.
The urban environment is perceived as dangerous, and children lose the ability to move around their city on their own for a living. Spaces dedicated to free and outdoor play are in fact islands where creativity and intuition blossom. They are suspended, generative times where democracy and freedom of thought can be exercised. And through play that the city remembers itself is not just for adults!
All Down to Earth is the Rondo dei Talenti’s call for proposals dedicated to the theme of free play in public spaces recognizing the educational and growth value for all ages.
During the first edition, 12 projects submitted by municipalities in the province of Cuneo that worked to improve play areas in their cities were funded by the CRC Foundation.
The municipalities that have joined the initiative are: Bagnolo, Benevello, Borgo San Dalmazzo, Ceresole d’Alba, Dronero, Monelupo Albese, Novello, Ormea, Sanfront, Savigliano, Vezza d’Alba and Vicoforte.
Together with illustrator Daniela Tieni, we imagined a series of artistic games that could beautify public spaces and promote free playtime for children.
